Polyacrylamide is a linear polymer mainly divided into two forms: dry powder and colloid. According to their average molecular weight, they can be divided into three categories: low, medium, and high molecular weight. According to its structure, it can be further divided into non-ionic, anionic, and cationic types.

When we use polyacrylamide, it usually needs to be dissolved in water until its polymer chain is fully extended before use, and it takes some time for it to completely dissolve. Generally speaking, the dissolution time of anions and non-ions is about half an hour, while cationic polyacrylamide may take a little longer about 1 hour, and then the polyacrylamide dissolves. Will the dissolution rate of polyacrylamide be affected by dosage?

Generally speaking, the dissolution rate of polyacrylamide is only affected by its molecular weight, and is not affected by dosage or complete dissolution time. If the dosage is not very large, the dissolution time and speed will not be affected by the dosage. However, the stirring speed will have a certain impact on the dissolution time of polyacrylamide. The faster the stirring speed of polyacrylamide with the same molecular weight, the shorter the dissolution rate, but the viscosity is very low. This is because after the amide group dissolves, it not only forms intramolecular hydrogen bonds but also hydrogen bonds with water molecules. The faster the stirring speed, the more rigid the hydrogen bonds within the polyacrylamide molecules will form a ring chain and spiral structure.

So when using polyacrylamide, if you're not in a hurry, you can slowly wait for it to dissolve before using it again.
